The hardware retailer has reopened all the 288 UK stores for the customers to browse and shop. B&Q is yet to reopen nine stores within the Republic of Ireland and Guernsey. In total, the DIY chain has 297 shops. Initially, B&Q has offered an online-only service to protect staff and customers, meaning shoppers could only choose between home delivery and click on and collect. For click and collect options, B&Q opened safe spaces outside closed stores for the public to gather their items. Therefore, after monitoring other stores, the social distancing measures and the hardware chain initially reopened their 14 branches on the weekend of April 18/19. An extra 61 branches reopened on April 22, with an additional 80 stores opening on April 23. the ultimate batch of stores reopened on April 30. Core opening times are from 8 am - 5 pm, although times may vary between branches. B&Q is limiting the number of consumers within the stores at anybody's time, and has installed screens at checkouts and floor markers to assist social distancing. Under 16s are currently not allowed in stores. Customers visiting the stores would only be ready to buy products available to require away on the day. Services like the kitchen and toilet design, paint mixing, timber cutting, and key cutting aren't currently available. B&Q also will only be accepting cards and contactless payments.

Which B and Q stores are open?

The 'trial' stores have reopened for business, Cardiff (Culverhouse Cross), Chester Coventry (Brandon Road) Fareham Gillingham Ipswich Nursling Paisley Plymouth Stockport Sutton in Ashfield Watford West Thurrock York (Hull Road). Store opening times are 8 am-5 pm from Monday to Saturday, and 10 am-4 pm for many on Sunday. It's advised that you check your local store's opening times on the B&Q website before heading out. Click + Collect is temporarily not available at these branches. The stores have implemented additional security measures to confirm social distancing, and kind of like supermarkets, there'll be restrictions on what number of people are allowed within the store.
