Born into a family of three, Carly has two other siblings. His older brother is also an actor who goes by the name Kris Pope and his younger brother is Alexander Pope. Very little information is available about his parents.
She attended high school at Lord Byng High School located next to the University of British Columbia. Carly developed a talent for acting early on. While still in high school in Vancouver, she starred in plays such as The Odd Couple and Midsummer Night, to name a few.
After her breakthrough in 2004, the following year saw her advance in the acting career. She was invited to play a guest role on FOX Tru Calling and also had a role as a would-be social worker in the movie Eighteen
