Devonta Freeman is an American soccer player who began his professional career after being selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2014 National Football League (NFL) draft. He is considered one of the best players in the league and plays in the second half of the season.
Devonta Freeman’s biography
Devonta Freeman was born on March 15, 1992 in Baxley, Georgia. His journey to soccer stardom began in his fifth grade when he played organized soccer for a Pop Warner team called the Moore Park Generals. He then went on to play in Pop Warner games for the Liberty City Optimist Club with his eventual mentor Luther Campbell (known for being the former live crew leader for rap group 2) as coach.
Campell aka Uncle Luke, whose presence in the gamer’s life left a positive impact and helped make him the star he is today. He is the founder of Liberty City Optimists – a youth sports program for inner city athletes. He saw Freeman, then 9 years old, playing baseball in Liberty City and convinced him to join his youth soccer team. From there, Campbell took Freeman as his son, and the two became so inseparable that the NFL star sees him as his mentor and second father figure.
Devonta was football-minded from a young age. By the time he entered Miami Central High School in West Little River, Florida, he was already a shining star on the school’s football team. With his help, the Rockets football team made it to the 2010 Class 6A state championship, where Freeman won for 308 yards on 36 carries and was named MVP. After his exploits with the team, Rivals.com considered him a 4-star recruit and rated him the best of his time in the nation.
Continuing on June 24, 2010, the young lad is at Florida State University, where he played college football for the Seminoles from 2011-2013. Devonta Freeman drafted the 2014 NFL Draft and was subsequently selected in the fourth round (103rd overall) by the Atlanta Falcons.
family
Devonta Freeman’s parents are Lorraine Freeman(mother) and Alfonso Nails (father). The player, who lived in Miami’s Liberty City Pork ‘n’ Beans projects with his mother and siblings for seven years, is the first of seven children – four girls and two boys.
Nothing ever got on a record for the Florida State runs back. With his father in prison, Devonta was considered the man of the family by the age of twelve. He worked many jobs including pumping gas, washing cars, raking leaves, and any job that didn’t involve breaking the law, taking care of himself, his mother and siblings as well two cousins he grew up with and the grandmother who raised him. At 13, Devonta Freeman was already very good at embalming corpses for $50 a corpse.
With his father absent from his life, another father figure, Cleveland Thomas (his mother’s boyfriend at the time), whom Freeman called “Dad,” came on board, but he was also in and out of prison. According to the player, Cleveland was a big dope boy and he’s seen doing “stuff.”
Despite growing up in a neighborhood full of gang members, drug dealers and violent criminals, he tried as much as possible to set a positive example for his younger members. Football was always his escape plan and being able to help his family and put a smile on their faces was his biggest drive and motivation to work harder.
At the age of 14, the fourth-round pick of the 2014 NFL Draft lost his aunt Tamekia N. Brown to a heart attack and since Freeman comes from a close family background, he tattooed her name on his left arm and wears the number 24 jersey in her honor.
relationship – girlfriend
Running back is reportedly in a relationship with Malikah Nash aka “Red Thang”. For many months, the young lady was only known as Red Thang on social media, and even Devonta called her that for reasons unknown. According to Devonta Freeman’s Instagram, the duo appears to have been together for two or three years.
Malikah is a star volleyball player who attended Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida, where she played with the Hillsborough Terrier volleyball team and graduated in 2013. That same year, she received the Heart of a Champion volleyball scholarship. The $1,000 Bob Gries Jr. Scholarship recognizes young athletes from the Tampa Bay community who have shown what heart is all about.
Mrs. Malikah Vorice Nash was born on January 11, 1995 to Mayli Dawn Nas (née Ryshoywer) and Kelsey Nash Sr. She has two siblings – brother Kelsey Jr. and sister Kamea.
