Jesse was born on July 9, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He grew up in the neighborhoods of Germantown and East Falls. He studied at William Penn Charter School until junior high but then moved with his family to Long Island in New York where he completed his education at a local school, Friends Academy. Jesse enrolled at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2001.

The young historian started it as a production assistant at Fox News and in 2003 joined the production team of The O’Reilly Factor. A year after being in the production unit, he began appearing on air in segments of the O’ Reilly show.

Jesse’s parents, Stephen and Anne Watters served as directors of undergraduate admissions at the college where he studied. After his family moved to Long Island, New York, his father got a job as a principal at Green Vale School and he is also vice president and treasurer of the New York Independent Schools Association. His mother, as a psychologist and director of admissions.
