The NBA Champion was born Lauri Elias Markkannen on May 22, 1997 to Pekka and Rikka Markkannen. He grew up in Finland but later moved to Jyväskylä with his family. Lauri was born into a family that graced the world of sport. The home manager, Pekka, was an active basketball player while at the University of Kansas, but never played the game professionally. His mother was part of the Finland national basketball team.
So far we’ve found that Lauri has siblings who are doing amazingly well in sports. His older brother Eero is a footballer, he played football for Aik football team and currently plays for Randers FC. The following year, Lauri Markkanen started an impressive record, and in less than 46 minutes, he had a career-high 33 points, resulting in a win over the New York Knicks. In a tough battle against the Milwaukee Bucks, he had 17 points and amassed a total of 721 points in his freshman year. At that level, he was named the second target player to reach such heights, and he also earned the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
International career
With a successful career in the NBA, LauriMarkkanen qualified for the international game of basketball. He won his first cap with Finland U-18 national team during the 2015 European U-18 Championship, averaging 18.2 points per game.
