BIOGRAPHY
Omar Sy was born on January 20, 1978 in Trappes, Yvelines, France.
He began his career, after high school, in 1996 with Radio Nova as a comedian, where he met fellow comedian Fred Testot. Afterwards, he appeared on the television show Le Cinéma de Jamel on Canal + , with Jamel Debbouze. Later, he created a television program called Le Visiophon, after its success, Omar obtained more spaces in the medium. In 2005,
Service après-vente des émissions was adapted into short 2 or 3 minute sketches on Canal +, although it was quickly removed from programming. The following year he appeared on the television program Fort Boyard .
Sy went to Los Angeles, where he voiced Zip in the French version of the video game Tomb Raider Legend . Prior to this work, Sy had already done dubbing, voicing a sheep in Disney’s Brother Bear , and in 2009 some of the characters in Logorama, with his partner Fred Testot.
In 2011, he starred in Friends , playing a street youth who becomes the personal care assistant of a quadriplegic millionaire (played by François Cluzet). This film enjoyed great success, with more than 19 million tickets sold. It topped the French box office in 2011 and became the best-selling French film of all time. Sy won the César Award for Best Actor in 2012 for the same film.
His entry into the world of Hollywood was marked by his role as Bishop in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Subsequently, He co-starred in Jurassic World , the fourth film in the Jurassic Park saga. In 2017, she voiced the character Hot Rod in the film Transformers 5 : The Last Knight.
On July 5, 2007, after living together for 10 years, Sy married Hélène, the mother of his five children .
