Choosing a name for your child can sometimes be overwhelming, especially when it’s your first – couples having their first baby can understand that. The process becomes increasingly confusing when friends, relatives, family members and relatives come up with their list of names that they think would suit your unborn child. However, the most important thing to consider when choosing a name for your baby is choosing one that you like and are comfortable with. That’s exactly what Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis did when they decided to name their son Dimitri Portwood Kutcher.
Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in May 2016, Ashton revealed he was keeping a secret (his wife’s pregnancy). In another interview, he later revealed that he wanted to name his son (second child) Hawkeye first, then turned to Dimitri. Why did he have to change his name at the last minute, how did he come up with the name, and what does the name mean? Here are the details.
Who is Dimitri Portwood Kutcher?
Dimitri Portwood Kutcher is the second child (first son) of adorable celebrity couple Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher.
The couple who are already parents to three-year-old daughter Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher, born October 1, 2014 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA, on November 30, 2016, welcomed their second child. Dimitri Portwood Kutcher came out weighing 8 pounds and 15 ounces.
Announcing their son’s arrival on Kutcher’s website on December 2, 2016, the couple did not, however, provide further information on how they arrived at the name Dimitri and what it meant.
In an interview on Conan earlier in November before the baby arrived, Ashton revealed he had wanted to name his son Hawkeye – after the mascot of his alma mater, the University of Iowa – but had to changing it at the last minute, as it seemed like Mila had a better alternative.
Changing the names of their children seems to have become a trend for the couple. After the birth of their daughter in 2014, The Ranch actor revealed that they changed the name they originally chose for Wyatt before he was born.
According to Ashton, he and Kunis had decided on a baby name long before they got pregnant, but would later realize that the name doesn’t live up to the energy the two felt and which Mila made clear one night when she had outright said, “That’s not the name”.
And on how they came to the name Wyatt, he says the inspiration came to him at a sporting event. They’d gone to a Lakers game when he started listing everything he’d seen, then the name Wyatt came up, he told Mila about it and she said, And his middle name, Isabelle, is from the great -father of Mila, who was Yitzhak.
Now back to how they came up with the name Dimitri Portwood Kutcher, for their son, Ashton, who had the inspiration for the name Wyatt, said it was Mila’s inspiration this time around.
They were out on a date where Mila said she thinks Donald Trump will become president and she thinks the baby’s name will be Dimitri, shocked at her hunch that Donald Trump will win the presidential election. He totally forgot the name until he got home one day and just told Mila is the baby’s name,” and she said, “I know, right? “” Yeah, that’s it! “and that was it.

Meaning Of Mila Kunis’ Son’s First Name?
Unlike the name Wyatt, which Ashton is content with Dimitri Portwood Kutcher’s name, shouted out during a sporting event, seems to say more about the couple’s roots and heritage (well, Isabelle also talks about their roots).
Dimitri is a very popular boy name with Russian origin and roots. According to Namebery, Dimitri, which simply means “follower of Demeter”, is one of the possible variant spellings of the name of [Demetrius], the Greek god of fertility and agriculture.
Why a Russian name, you may ask. Kunis has Russian roots. She had emigrated to Ukraine when she was seven years old in Ukraine, she was fluent in Russian and had once told Marie Claire that her children were going to know Russian and would probably go to a Russian kindergarten.
And for his middle name, Portwood, reports suggest Kutcher must have named his son after his stepfather, Mark Portwood — whose surname, mother, Diane Portwood, also shares. So choosing the name Dimitri Portwood might just be about feeling the connection to their family and roots (legacy).
