Turns out Dwayne Johnson isn’t the only successful crossover artist in the industry; Terry Crews is also part of the ranks. One look at his chiseled frame will make anyone think he belongs in a wrestling ring. Terry is a former American football player turned actor and entertainer best known for his roles in Everybody Hates Chris, Are We There Yet? and film consumables

He also hosted the popular game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and was one of the names listed in 2017 as ‘TIME Person of the Year’.

Terry’s early days

Terry Alan Crews was born in Flint, Michigan, into a Christian family on July 30, 1968. His father, Terry Crews Sr., being an abusive alcoholic, his mother was in charge when it came to raising young Terry.

He went to Flint Southwestern for his high school education and earned him a full football scholarship to Western Michigan University. He also received other art scholarships such as the one he received at the Chrysler-sponsored Interlochen Center for the Arts. As a footballer, Terry played defensive end for the WMU Broncos for which he won all-conference honors and the Mid-American Conference Championship in 1988.

Terry Crews professional career would start when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams. He was selected in the 11th round of the 1991 NFL Draft. During his career, he also played with the San Diego Chargers, Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles.

Post-football and interim career

Crews suspended his football in 1997, he was only 29 at the time. He moved to Los Angeles to pursue his longtime dream of an acting career. His first acting role came as the character “Warriors” on the game show Syndicated Battle Dome. He portrayed T-Money until the show was canceled in 2001.

Ahead of his next film role, he’s appeared in everything from music videos to commercials. His next role was in the movie Next Friday, starring Ice Cube, for whom Terry had previously worked as an on-set bodyguard. He then starred in films like White Chicks in 2001, and Adam Sandler ‘s The Longest Yard the following year. Terry gained greater public recognition when he starred as Julius Rock on the sitcom Everybody Hates Chris. Among his many other films, he has the role of Sergeant Terry Jeffords in the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Crews worked to stop being known as a comic, a stereotype his sitcom movie roles had forced upon him. He got his chance to do that when he played Hale Caesar in The Expendables series. The former pro-soccer player has also done a few voiceovers in animated films such as Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, where he voiced the character Earl Devereaux.

He collaborated with BET to start his own reality series about him and his family’s daily life. It was titled The Family Crews and ran from 2010 to 2011. For the Netflix original show Ultimate Beastmaster in 2017, Crews starred as an American host.

Throughout his career, the actor has been nominated for several awards from different associations. Some of the associations include The Teen Choice Awards, Screen Actors Guild and NAACP Image Awards.

Terry net worth

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Terry’s net worth is calculated at $20 million for his seven-year professional football career and numerous film and voice-over appearances.

Family – wife and children

The veteran actor dated his girlfriend, Rebecca King, for a few years in the late ’80s before finally getting married. They exchanged their wedding vows in 1990. The union saw the birth of five children. Their names are Azriel, Isaiah, Naomi, Tera and Wynfrey Crews.

Thankfully, the relationship between the crews managed to escape the familiar stain of scandal that is almost the norm for high profile relationships within the industry. He and his wife have maintained a strong relationship over the years. There has been no record of an affair or divorce.

Sexual orientation/gay controversy

The only blemish on Terry’s otherwise flawless acting career would be when he accuses WME’s movie band leader Adam Venit of sexually assaulting him. This sparked unfounded rumors that the actor was either gay or bisexual.

Terry says the event took place at a party in 2016, when Adam had made inappropriate progress towards him, even groping and squeezing his genitals more than once. Terry ended up having to push him into some of the other partygoers. Regarding the event, Crews says he’s never felt more emasculated and objectified.

Meanwhile, Adam has been sent on 30-day leave pending an internal investigation. He has since returned to work but was demoted from his role as head of WME’s film group. Rather, he serves in a lesser capacity as an agent. A result for which Terry Crews has clearly expressed his dissatisfaction.

This all happened around the same time as the Harvey Weinstein scandal broke.

Terry Crews Body Net Worth

It is surprising that, given the former impressive physique of the athlete, he was never embodied in a macho-man, muscle-related role. In fact, from his numerous interviews and social media updates, it seems he consciously avoided such roles. Still, that doesn’t make it any less drool-worthy.

Terry Crews stands at an impressive height of 6ft 3in which equates to 1.91m and maintains a healthy weight of 111kg (245lbs).
