BIOGRAPHY
Yalitza Aparicio is a young Mexican actress, born in Oaxaca, Mexico, in 1993, who was chosen, personally, by the Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón, to give life to the protagonist of the film Roma (2018), which represents the film debut by Aparicio. For this multi-award-winning and critically praised project, Yalitzia did not have theater or acting training; However, she has taken the majority of the cake from critics who have admired her work. Yalitza, a proud representative of the Tlaxiaco community, was looking for work when her sister suggested she go to a casting where they required women who spoke Mixtec. In several interviews, Ella Aparicio has confessed that she thought the whole thing was about some white slave trafficking ring, but she was surprised to learn that she would be working with one of the greatest directors in Mexico. Yalitza’s success after Roma seems to have no end, as the most famous actresses in Hollywood have approached her during the different festivals she has attended, to express their admiration for the work she developed in Roma . Among those actresses is Emma Stone, star of La La Land . Unlike several non-actors who have participated in national projects and move away from the spotlight immediately, Aparicio does intend to continue training in acting to continue her career as an actress. Recently, Ella Aparicio became the first indigenous woman to appear on the cover of the fashion magazine Vogue, to which she offered an exclusive interview.
